Most first-time programs follow what the trade calls the classic circuit: Istanbul, Cappadocia, Pamukkale and Ephesus, often with Çanakkale for Troy and Gallipoli, or Antalya for the coast. How those stops are linked — by road, by air or a mix of both — decides the length, the pace and the price of the tour. These are the building blocks we work with when we cost a program, and the questions product managers ask us most often.
How long does a Turkey tour take?
Five days is enough for Istanbul plus one region by flight — either Cappadocia, or Ephesus and Pamukkale. Eight to ten days covers the full classic circuit at a comfortable pace. Twelve to fourteen days adds the Mediterranean coast and central Anatolia for a grand tour of the country. We run all three formats as ready-made group tours and adapt them for private departures:
Istanbul & Cappadocia by flight (5 days) · Istanbul, Ephesus & Pamukkale by flight (5 days) · Discover Türkiye (9 days) · Grand Türkiye (13 days)
Typical travel times between stops
Turkey is roughly 1,600 km from west to east, so routing matters. As a planning guide:
| Route | Usual way | Approx. time |
|---|
| Istanbul → Cappadocia | Domestic flight to Kayseri or Nevşehir | about 1 hr 20 min |
| Cappadocia → Konya | By road | about 3 hrs |
| Konya → Pamukkale | By road | about 5–6 hrs |
| Pamukkale → Kuşadası / Ephesus | By road | about 3 hrs |
| Pamukkale → Antalya | By road | about 3–4 hrs |
| Kuşadası → Çanakkale | By road | about 5–6 hrs |
| Çanakkale → Istanbul | By road | about 4–5 hrs |
| İzmir → Istanbul | Domestic flight | about 1 hr 15 min |
| Antalya → Istanbul | Domestic flight | about 1 hr 20 min |
Times are indicative and vary with traffic, season and stops on the way. We confirm exact timings in every quotation.
When to travel
Turkey sells all year, but the seasons behave differently. April to June and September to early November are the peak touring months, with mild weather for open-air sites such as Ephesus and the valleys of Cappadocia. July and August are hot inland and busiest on the coast, which suits beach extensions and blue cruises. Winter brings quieter sites, good hotel value and snow in Cappadocia — a strong season for city breaks and cultural tours. Balloon flights operate year-round but depend on the morning’s weather, so we recommend at least two nights in Cappadocia whenever a flight is important to the client.
Getting in and around
Most international arrivals land at Istanbul Airport (IST) or Sabiha Gökçen (SAW). İzmir, Antalya, Dalaman and Bodrum also receive international flights and work well for open-jaw programs that start in one city and end in another. Entry rules depend on nationality; our Türkiye travel guide covers visas, money, dress, etiquette and practicalities, and partners are welcome to share it with their clients.
What a quotation from us contains
Every quotation is a day-by-day program with the services listed for each day: transfers, guiding, entrances, meals, hotels by name or category, internal flights and any special experiences. Inclusions and exclusions are stated clearly, optional extras are priced separately, and the rate is a net rate for the trade. If the brief changes — dates, numbers, hotel level — we re-cost the program rather than leaving you to work it out.
